- Offered ongoing health education classes to the community, including smoking cessation, diabetes education, CPR, first aid, childbirth classes, babysitting and caregiving courses
- Sponsored and participated in family and health-oriented community events such as the Relay for Life, 4th of July Concert in the Park, Red Cross Turkey Trot, Helpline Support, and the Children’s Home Society
- Piloted the Medicare Senior Diabetes Program, successfully completed by 20 participants with an aggregate weight loss of 260 pounds
- Partnered with Yellowhawk Tribal Health Clinic to provide pediatric and OB/GYN care and cardiac risk screenings
- Donated heart rate monitors to local high school for healthy lifestyle class
- Launched an e-Chaplain ministry to enhance our spiritual support of the community
- Administered free cholesterol and glucose screenings at various community events including the Farmers’ Market
- Participated in the community Meals on Wheels program with an average of 273 meals per month
- Donated employee time and expertise to community leadership roles
- Provided physician support for community clinics such as the school-based health center, university health clinics and the free SOS clinic
- Provided $8,523,027 in free and low-cost services to the community
- Received Chest Pain Center accreditation, becoming one of nine Chest Pain Centers in Washington State
- Developed the area’s first and only interventional cardiology program with emergency angioplasty and stents, dramatically improving cardiac care in the community
- Opened Phase 1 of newly-constructed Emergency Center and added two emergency physicians
- Signed a formal alliance with Kadlec Health System for the purpose of serving our communities through a network of rural health clinics—the first of which is scheduled to open in spring 2013
- Clinic volume increased 13.7 percent over last year
- Overall patient stay in the ER averaged less than two hours, which is among the best in Adventist Health and well under the national average
- In ongoing efforts to improve patient safety, we successfully implemented Computerized Provider Order Entry and Cerner Rx Station
- Named a Top Performer by the Washington Hospitals Workers’ Compensation Trust and received $5,000 for our safe patient handling program
- Expanded Adventist Health/Medical Group services with the addition of three new primary care physicians and a retail pharmacy location
- Continued construction on patient rooms on the med/surg unit as part of the Enhancing the Healing Environment project, which raised more than $223,000 in 2012
